Ontario’s Infrastructure Plan
Revitalizing Ontario’s infrastructure to help our economy grow

Ontario has responded to the extraordinary challenge of the global recession with extraordinary measures, and our plan is working.

According to the Conference Board of Canada, in 2009 Ontario’s infrastructure investments:

Saved about 70,000 jobs in the province

  • Added almost a full percentage point to Ontario’s economy
  • Supported over 180,000 jobs (growing to over 220,000 jobs in 2010)
  • Added $1.11 to Ontario’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for every $1 invested

Ontario plans to invest over $32 billion in roads, bridges, public transit, and energy retrofits for our schools. This will create and sustain jobs, stimulate the economy, and put money into the hands of families, where it is needed.

It’s part of our new, five-year Open Ontario Plan to strengthen our economy and create good jobs for Ontarians.
